Anyone who comes to my house for dinner knows there is a very strong chance hummus will kick off the meal, so I felt it was a great way to kick off the blog! Its a very simple recipe that works great as a snack or an appetizer. The biggest difference with this hummus is that it's served warm.
Step 1: Put 1/4 cup tahini and 1/4 cup fresh squeezed lemon juice in a food processor and blend for 1-2 minutes.
Step 2: Keep first mixture in processor. Add the following ingredients and blend for an additional 1-2 minutes.
- Garlic (1 clove) chopped or minced
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/2 tsp salt
Step 3: Strain (1) 15 oz can of chickpeas and keep liquid separate. Heat chickpeas, then add half of the the chickpeas to the food processor with the tahini and blend. When you think it's good, blend it a bit more. Then add the second half of the chickpeas and continue blending.
Step 4: Add 1/4 cup of reserved liquid from can and blend for another minute. Put in a serving bowl and add a little olive oil, a dash of paprika, and a garnish of fresh parsley. Serve immediately!
